What is Cross-Contamination?

Cross Contamination is when bacteria is unintentionally transferred from one surface to another.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to be aware that cross-contamination may be possible with the virus.

Touching Surfaces and Objects

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recently came out with some news saying the virus "does not spread easily" from touching surfaces and objects. However, it is possible that objects can have the virus on it if someone sneezed or coughed on it.

Our Recommendation

As the CDC is still learning more about the virus, it is SERVPRO of Westminster's recommendation to wipe down any surfaces in public spaces. For example, it would be a good idea to wipe down door handles, buttons on elevators, stairway railings, and shopping cart handles.

Wash Your Hands!

Without a doubt, washing your hands is the best method to keep yourself safe from COVID-19. If there is no place to wash your hands, then using hand sanitizer is the second-best option!
